About SEED and its core principles

The battle against planetary un-sustainability that includes climate change, biodiversity loss, waste and pollution is riddled with several complex socioeconomic and cultural issues as well. Agenda 2030 and associated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were launched by the UN as an answer to bring in a sustainable world by 2030. However, Covid-19 crisis has slowed action on many of the sustainability concerns pushing them in the background. In a scenario like this, when it is becoming difficult to imagine a way forward, it is imperative to develop a culture of collective endeavor and enterprise by all the stakeholders to work together for a better future of the planet earth. 

In adherence to this vision, Society for Environment Education & Development (SEED) which was set up in 2008 as a non-profit voluntary organization to promote the cause of environment, education and sustainable development issues through a variety of innovative activities and programmes. with its unique mandate of leveraging the collective strength of society by combining principles of natural and social sciences to build the necessary social and human capital needed to address our most pressing environment and development challenges. 

SEED provides a platform for a variety of organizations and individuals and works through partnerships and networks utilizing their complementary strengths for synergistic convergence of ideas and goals and builds on strategic opportunities and facilities to address environmental, social and economic dimensions and implications of development. 

With a history of reputable collaborations and mobilization of different stakeholders, utilizing a variety of tools and practices, SEED wishes to streamline the environment and sustainability discourse in India by engaging young leaders, students and professionals through the application of new and innovative approaches to achieve its desired goal.
